Just wanted to say I like your blog.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35315805.post-57079496560118816292007-03-05T09:06:00.000-05:002007-03-05T09:06:00.000-05:00Stardust, I saw a documentary about lesbians from ...Stardust, I saw a documentary about lesbians from a very orthodox home get the same treatment. Normally, these incidents are rare amongst Jews and only happen when the majority of the extended family are all ultra orthodox.

Tommy, it boggles my mind how many orthodox Jews deny evolution and many or them, an ancient earth as well. Because it is tradition to ask questions and seek answers in Judaism. Must be cognitive dissonance, that pushes them into a state of scientific ignorance.Baconeaterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11134934827966299989noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35315805.post-3501465558620697342007-03-03T20:17:00.000-05:002007-03-03T20:17:00.000-05:00From the article you linked to:When David's mother...From the article you linked to:

When David's mother saw a letter from the army she instantly knew that her son had lost his faith.

His family moved quickly to ostracise him.

"My mother told me that I had to leave the family because I would be a bad influence on my brothers and sisters," he says, recalling the incident five years ago.

His father has not spoken to him since that day. And David has only sporadic contact with his mother and his siblings.

This is so incredibly sad, yet it happens all too often. Like my niece's pastor wannabe husband banning us from communicating with "HIS wife and children" for simply asking them to stop proseltyzing to me.

I have family members who are moderate to light christians and we never have problems and are very close with one another, yet my niece and husband have isolated themselves on an island off the coast of Alaska and have written off anyone who doesn't hold their fundie beliefs (or at least pretend to.)

So much for xian love. It is my opinion that they are so touchy and defensive, and that they isolate themselves because their faith is really very fragile. This is saying that human will is much stronger than a god's will...or that there is no god and they don't want to admit it.Stardusthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10560872454564355114noreply@blogger.com
