I Guess They Didn't Pray Hard Enough

From Bangladesh, more evidence that being a devoutly religious person doesn't result in your God enveloping you in some kind of magic shield to protect you from harm.

"At least 13 devotees have been killed by lightning outside a mosque in northeastern Bangladesh.

Local police chief Bayes Ahmed says 20 other people were injured by the lightning late Friday in Sylhet district. The victims were struck by the lightning as they were exiting the mosque following special prayers tied to the holy month of Ramadan."

That proves that the Christian gods are the right ones, because such tragedies never occur at Jesus churches.

Mosques probably attract a fair bit of lightning, given that the minarets are usually taller than anything else near them.

After the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake in the San Francisco area, some big-name fundies said God must be expressing his displeasure with the abundance of gays in the region. It turned out that none of San Francisco's gay bars were damaged in the quake, but several churches were -- which makes one wonder exactly what message God was trying to send.

Yeah, God always seems to have poor aim. The way I look at it, if God hated gays, then he would cause them to die from spontaneous combution whenever they engaged in gay sex acts.
