Would It Really Be That Much of a Loss?

Word has it that Islamic extremists have targeted Amy Winehouse for a possible hit in response to the latest conflict in Gaza.

Given her extremely turbulent personal life, including drug overdoses and frequent run-ins with the law, jihadists would probably be doing Amy Winehouse (and those of us sick of reading about her exploits) a favor by whacking her. I have to confess though that I am not familiar with any of her music, so I couldn't say if it would be much of a loss in that regard.

Yeah, her media attention is very irritating and she's definitely got some serious problems, but as far as her music goes, it's actually not too bad. I only know her main single, something about not wanting to go to rehab. It has kind of a classic R&B sound to it, and she sings with the voice of a 50-year-old black soul mama, which is impressive given that she is actually pretty far from that age and appearance-wise. Personally, I don't have all that much against her. She's pretty young and having the spotlight put on you early is probably a hard thing. Still, there are plenty of other people I could think of who I'd rather read about turning up deceased.

She can't be getting too much news coverage. I'm a news junkie and have no idea who she is (seriously).

Well, she's definitely not getting anything on the level of Paris Hilton or Britney Spears or any of those other twats, but let me put it this way. I'm not a fan of hers, nor do I consider myself a fan of pop music in general, but I somehow managed to hear a lot about her. Either way, you're probably better off not knowing who she is. Just another young female singer who needs rehab :-)
