There will be no new posts here at Exercise in Futility until Saturday evening at the earliest as I will be flying down to Fort Lauderdale tomorrow night. I will be doing the open water dive portion of the PADI Open Water Diver course. I did the pool dives and passed the written test, and the open water dives are all that are left to do so that I can get certified.
I will be doing two dives each on Thursday and Friday before flying back up to New York on Saturday afternoon. I'm a little nervous about it, because unlike a pool dive, this is going to be the real deal. I can't wait to get it over with.
Here's a short video that someone shot while diving in Fort Lauderdale.
Chat with y'all when I get back.

Have a great time and don't worry, We'll hold down the blogoshpere while you're gone.
Have fun and be safe.
I'm jealous! Being a shark-lover, I always wanted to learn to scuba.
Have fun & good luck!
Wimp. Flying to Florida for the dive? I took my open water test in a 7 mil wetsuit in October in a quarry in Pennsylvania, while suffering from diarrhea.
Seriously, though, I hope you have some great diving.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I did throw up after the first dive this morning. One of my fins came off in the water too.
But my second dive was much better. I think I've got the buoyancy thing down pretty good.
To my utter astonishment, there was no Bible in my hotel room. This Embassy Suites hotel is pretty nice, though I think the three sinks in my room is a little bit overkill. The dive shop is in a shopping center across the street, and pretty much everything I need is within short walking distance.
OT: Hey Tommy, just needed to let you know that I shut down the other blog and I won't be posting there anymore. I did make a new blog though, you can find the link in my profile. Sorry for any inconvenience.
