Carnival of Sharks

These beauties can be found at the Shark Aquarium in Hong Kong's premier amusement park Ocean Park. The really spooky looking ones are gray nurse sharks, which despite their scary appearance, do not eat people.

Sharks are my favorite animals :) Loved them since I was 8 years old.

How can you not like a ray's little smiley face, Star? lol

Sharks are so scary because they look so pitiless. It makes me think of the android Ash's line in "Alien" where he tells Riply why he admires it:

"I admire its purity. A survivor... unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality."

There are few things I can imagine that are more terrifying than being underwater and seeing a great white shark speed towards you, it's huge tooth filled maw opening wide in anticipation of chomping on your flesh.

tommy, that's why when we go to the ocean I don't go near the water. Once when we were at Virginia Beach years ago this jellyfish came within inches of my leg and I was outta there and while I LOVE the ocean, I don't swim in it.

Many of these sea creatures look like aliens.

lol I think they have cute little faces.

Tommy, maybe that's why I love them so much, their undisputed position as apex of the apex predators, changing hardly at all for millions of years.

Ahh, the Great White, maybe the most feared creature ever? So hard to study because they can't survive in captivity.

Anyway, I think sharks are graceful and beautiful. I have a little reef shark tattoo on my leg.
